Several ZIP files can't be extracted with classic software, I get :
Unsupported compress method (7zip Windows)
ERROR: Unsupported Method (BetterZip Mac)
Or ... other various errors when unzipping:

- Casio PV-1000 - Games (TOSEC-v2023-10-03).zip
- Magnavox Odyssey2 - Games (TOSEC-v2021-07-25).zip

But I saw the new ZFSD zipping format and managed to unpack them with p7zip.

OK, gave up trying to put my old files and ... new ones from this lot together as was getting all sorts of Zip errors with Romvault (the TOSEC approved tool).
Any chance of a s/shot of your Romvault settings so I can confirm I have a fully functional download from the torrent?

i think the size in the dat file is wrong, in ... the dat is 16834 vs the rom files is 16384.
The rest crc32 , sha1 is the same so i manually corrected the dat and all was good

This collection is useless if you want to use them in an emulator that supports zip compression. If you want to batch compress each rom to use in emulators

that support it zip files, you have to spend the rest of your life moving thousands of files out of their individual folders and put them all into one. This file structure is useless and TOSEC collections were never like this.
UPDATE. Thankyou so much for your reply and for replying to everyone. As you mentioned in one of your replies, Please do not use ZFSD for your next release. Thanks again.
For those having trouble extracting the zip files, try 7zip, I just installed the latest version and no more unknown archive errors.Best of all, 7zip is free software.

Of course this guy is great for doing all of this thankless work but for me I am dropping out of the green check marks.
I have the space on my NAS but ... now TOSEC is dealing in IBM Games and Software which is in the infinite. Not only that but doubles and some times triples, not versions, but ISO, Bin/Cue, IMG... of the same software....7 gig DVD's files....Dude makes no sense.
I was on the brink of giving up when PC Magazines came along that offer nothing but advertisements and reviews of every day PC crap. Also the long filename issue still persists despite years of complaining.
I ran into arguments over this on ROM Shepard when it was still around and the response was, because I WANT TO!

I'm sorry to bother you, I don't know if the problem is on my end, but the main branch torrent (tosec-main_archive.torrent) only lists a handful of folders
...
and leaves out lots of them, everything after Dynabyte, for example the Sinclair branch. Is there some way to fix it and avoid having to download it all manually? Thank you

@Meth Methanoid - Try another unzip program, like 7-zip or WinRAR. Not every program is up-to-date with the new ZFSD zip format.
@Marc1972 - As mentioned by @jondak, there was an error with it being wrong on the DAT. TOSEC released a fixed DAT on their Discord. You can find the invite on their website (link for that the description)
@Bonus Game - As that is a Internet Archive error I can't be 100% sure. If I had to guess, I would say its due to the new compression method (ZFSD) being used. Maybe I will revert it back on the next release. It's giving more cons than pros so far.
@Retrogogo - This is being done for archive purposes. If your solo intention is to use it for emulation, I'm pretty sure you can find better releases somewhere else. Although if you want to know the reason, it's because my ROMVault is setup that way.
@Trackah123 - Thank you for noting it. Those files are not present on my local repository, so I'm guessing the sync command failed to remove it. I will force their removal later.
EDIT: My mistake, I've done this before... When Archive.org is still deriving the files, rclone has trouble in removing the old files. I'm running the script again, that should sort those leftovers files.
EDIT2: Sorted
@Ymgve - I don't know if I can force an update on the torrent file in this archive tbh. There was a lot of conversation in the past about deleting it and it being generated again. But I didn't have any luck. As it is automatically generated when you first upload the archive, it's useless atm.
@RobFon12998 - I get what you are saying, but unfortunately I have no control over what is being dated, I just upload the files for archiving reasons. But the link to TOSEC page is at the description, there you have a link to their Discord, they seem to be very active there.
@CapJTKirk1967 - No worries, it happens. At the moment I'm waiting for an admin to approve something on server side. Unfortunately sometimes it happens and it only delays the update. Hopefully we should have it clear by the end of today. But I will update the description when it's ready to be downloaded.
Just avoid downloading it before otherwise you will get old stuff and empty zips.

And it is limited to a certain amount of files/size. And its not updated later.
Your best option is to use JDownloader2.

Just the updates for TOSEC Main...but due ... to crappy weather, blackouts, slow uploads, et cetera, you'll still need to pull TWO of the files from GeneXo's post, which are directly linked on ^^^ that post.
You can avoid the long filename problem (for the most part) with the latest 7Zip on extraction, or you can try RomVaultand see if that works any better for you. Gordon kicked some serious rear-facing fat deposits with that one. Boy needs some new steel toes... d;o)
